Much of 'Gap Band V' is more commercial sounding than their earlier releases and that comment fits nicely with the U.K. hit single 'Someday' (feat Stevie Wonder) and the other minor U.K. hit here, 'Jammin' In America' which could easily double for a sing-a-long U.S. candidates run for senate campaign with its 'la la la la la la' refrain/5(12).

The group scored many notable hits in the late 's and early 's before releasing this, GAP BAND V: JAMMIN', hot on the heels of their most successful album, GAP BAND IV. This album reached #1 R&B and #28 Pop and was certified Gold. Essential listening for all R&B, Soul, Funk and Disco fans/5(12).

The Gap Band had given themselves some big shoes to fill in the wake of their The Gap Band IV LP. It had, of course, spawned "You Dropped a Bomb on Me" -- one of the defining songs of the decade and indeed of the contemporary funk genre.
